Hey! My name is Matthew Summerlin. I am eighteen years old and I go to James Sprunt Community College. When I was a kid my mom made sure I was in church learning about God and
His Word. I was a pretty good kid most of the time, until I discovered the freedom I thought I had through getting my license. After I got that “magical” little card my parents trusted me to pretty much go and come as I pleased, because I had been a good kid. It wasn’t long after I turned sixteen that I started getting invited to parties with my football buddies. It was great because I felt so popular and
cool. While I was partying I felt compelled to drink because the people around me were. One time I got caught by my parents and they grounded me, but that didn’t stop me. I kept on and on until at one party I was introduced to pills called Triple C’s. After that one time, I was addicted. I couldn’t help it; it felt awesome to have a little control over what I did and what I said. I was on top of the
world! Well in 2007, I think it was, I had knee surgery. It slowed me down a bunch and while I was laid up in my bed, not one of my “friends” came to check on me. I went back to school and everybody was talking about the latest party and I felt so lost. By the end of 2007 I started going
back to church. Except this time I was going to Beulaville PFWB Church. It was there that I found the love and acceptance I wanted, free of charge. There, I also discovered Walk the Line by Sam, Brooks, & Cameron. I learned that I would rather be under God than on top of the world any day. ☺ I also found out that I have the calling on my life to become and evangelist. A couple of years have
passed since then and I am still walking the line! Sure there are times when I backslide and fall but
now I have Someone to catch me.
