When one gets saved, we must understand that that is just the beginning. We are babes in Christ and we are called to grow up. A baby saying his first word, "Da-da," is an amazing thing and we applaud and celebrate it. However, if 15 year old came in the house and said, "Da-da," it would be laughable and/or insignificant. As children grow we expect a change in behavior and a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. It is no different with God's children. When we get saved, God's expects us to go on to maturity, not to just remain babes having nothing to say but, "Da-da." After a while "Da-da" just doesn't get it.

There are 3 signs of a maturing Christian we should seek to cultivate within ourselves. First, a maturing Christians knows themselves. They honestly look into the mirror of God's word to see where they fall short and challenge themselves to change. Of course they realize this only comes about through humble, consistent submission to God through prayer. This type of Christian is more concerned about seeing their own shortcomings an improving them rather than seeing and pointing out the shortcoming of others. Second, a maturing Christian has hunger for God and His word. With that hunger comes a drive to know God intimately and be known by Him. Finally, a maturing Christian is productive. They bear fruit for God's kingdom, they are out working, longing to make a difference in people's lives. Being so thankful for what they have received from God, they are busy sharing that with others as well as looking other ways to bring attention to the God they serve and love.

Don't be like the Christians in the book of Hebrews, "For though at this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you. . . and you have come to need milk and not solid food." These Christians refused to grow up and were crying for a bottle when they should have been mature enough for a steak.
