![]() The Bible is the supreme authority for all Christians. It teaches us, it brings conviction and correction, and it also trains us in righteousness so that we are equipped to live out the life of Christ that has been given to us (Timothy 3:15-16). The Bible was written with us in mind, for Paul states, "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."" Not only do we receive instruction and correction from the Word, but there is also a supernatural impartation of hope for those who come to the Word with a pure heart and right motives. It inspires and fills one will faith because the Word is the life breath of God Himself. Five things come to mind as we examine the Word of God; 1. It is the only true revelation of God's nature and character. 2. It shows us our true selves (James 1:22-24). 3. It should be obeyed and applied to everyday life, not just read or taught (Samuel 15:22; John 14:21)). 4. It should be consulted daily in one form or another. 5. The Holy Spirit is the One who brings true and practical revelation of GodŐs Word to the sincere seeker (John 14:26). |
