The Bible is a lamp, a fire, a hammer, a seed, a sword, the source of our faith, it is pure, it is perfect, it sure, it is restraining, it is liberating, it cuts, it heals, it breaks, it burns, it is our bread, it tastes bitter and sweet, and the list goes on. The Bible is the inspired word of God and through the years it has brought hope, it has been fought over, it has been misinterpreted to bring confusion yet rightly divided it has brought clarity and purpose to so many, it has been banned yet it has sold more copies than any book in history, and despite the controversy surrounding it, it is the TRUTH.

The Bible is the supreme authority for all Christians. It teaches us, it brings conviction and correction, and it also trains us in righteousness so that we are equipped to live out the life of Christ that has been given to us (Timothy 3:15-16). The Bible was written with us in mind, for Paul states, "For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."" Not only do we receive instruction and correction from the Word, but there is also a supernatural impartation of hope for those who come to the Word with a pure heart and right motives. It inspires and fills one will faith because the Word is the life breath of God Himself.

Five things come to mind as we examine the Word of God; 1. It is the only true revelation of God's nature and character. 2. It shows us our true selves (James 1:22-24). 3. It should be obeyed and applied to everyday life, not just read or taught (Samuel 15:22; John 14:21)). 4. It should be consulted daily in one form or another. 5. The Holy Spirit is the One who brings true and practical revelation of GodŐs Word to the sincere seeker (John 14:26).
